Roof Conditions, Observatory – Victorian Barometer T-Shirt
£25.00
A Victorian barometer tee for anyone who checks the forecast before heading out at night. This forecast has opinions.
The roof instrument was bought to tell the night staff whether the dome was worth opening: Rain, Overcast, Fair, Clear. Since November the needle has kept settling on a part of the dial the maker never marked, so the Committee had a word engraved there to save argument. Most nights now it reads Clear, with a chance of Watched. An ornate engraved dial dated 1887, the last word cut later by another hand, and a moon-gold needle with a crescent-moon counterweight.
