Instructions to the Sounding Party – Victorian Notice T-Shirt

A Victorian notice tee for people who follow instructions to the letter, especially the ones nobody explains.

Posted in the deckhouse of the Constance before she left harbour in the spring of 1888, by order of the Observatory Committee. There are four instructions, in order of importance. The third was underlined in pencil after the first week. The Committee did not explain the fourth, and the Sounding Party did not ask. A broadside under a notched double rule, with four numbered rules below an engraved coil of line and a moon-gold sounding lead.
