What Came Up in the Tallow – Sea Serpent Specimen T-Shirt
£25.00
A sea serpent specimen tee for natural history people who like their evidence pressed in tallow and filed with a tag.
A sounding lead is armed with tallow so that it brings up a sample of the bottom: sand, shell, the odd small stone. Sounding No. 41 brought up a print instead. It is one scale, pressed in hard, and wider than the lead it was pressed into. Mr Hollin drew it rather than describe it. An engraved bell-shaped lead seen base-on, a keeled scale print in moon-gold across its tallow, and a specimen tag on twisted twine.
